Mittal: OneWeb Beats Starlink in India; Jaishankar Urges Middle Powers to Act

Indian tycoon Sunil Bharti Mittal said his satellite venture, Eutelsat OneWeb, is "significantly ahead" of Elon Musk's Starlink in India. Mittal's comments come as the race to provide satellite internet heats up, with both companies vying for a share of the vast Indian market. OneWeb's early mover advantage and partnerships with local players could give it an edge. Meanwhile, India's External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that growing calls for "middle powers" to play a more active role in global affairs require them to find partners who can cooperate on key issues. He emphasized that these countries "need to be more active, need to deal more with each other, and figure out a way of moving the needle on issues of interest to them." Jaishankar's remarks underscore India's efforts to position itself as a leader among middle powers, balancing relations with major global players while advancing its own interests. The discussion also touched on the importance of technology and connectivity in shaping international partnerships.
