Oleshky Under Siege: Residents Risk Lives as Food Deliveries Halt
In the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky in southern Ukraine, residents are facing starvation as food deliveries have dried up since May. Trapped in a war zone, they risk their lives to travel for hours by foot and bicycle along mine-strewn roads just to obtain food and water. The town, located near the Ukrainian city of Kherson on the southern front, has been under Russian control since 2022. Former residents and Ukrainian refugees are now trying to sound the alarm about the deteriorating humanitarian situation. With no regular access to supplies, the remaining population is increasingly isolated and vulnerable. The journey to find basic necessities is fraught with danger, as the roads are littered with mines and the area remains a active conflict zone. This report sheds light on the often-overlooked suffering of civilians living under occupation. As the war continues, the residents of Oleshky and similar towns face an uncertain future, with little hope of relief unless humanitarian access is restored. The international community is urged to pay attention to their plight.
