Israeli Settlers Rampage During West Bank Olive Harvest
Dozens of Israeli settlers launched violent attacks on Palestinians across the West Bank on Friday as families gathered for the autumn olive harvest. Masked men, some armed with gas canisters, chased and beat harvesters, while others threw rocks and set cars and trees ablaze. Health officials reported that more than a dozen people were injured in at least eight villages. Among the injured was Heidi Levine, an American photojournalist working for The Washington Post. Levine was forced to flee the scene after she was attacked, underscoring the dangers faced by journalists covering the escalating violence. The assaults come amid heightened tensions over settlement expansion and land disputes. The olive harvest is a vital economic and cultural tradition for many Palestinian families, and the attacks have raised concerns about the protection of civilians and press freedom. Israeli authorities have not yet commented on the incidents.
