Is the US Retreating from the World? Charles Kupchan on Global Leadership

US troops are leaving Iraq, American bombers are being withdrawn from Britain, and Washington is scaling back its international commitments. Is Donald Trump reshaping US foreign policy, or is America giving up its role as global leader? Charles Kupchan of the Council on Foreign Relations and Georgetown University joins DW News to analyze whether this is strategic restraint, a return to isolationism, or the beginning of a more dangerous world. Kupchan examines the historical context of US foreign policy and the implications of recent decisions. He discusses the potential consequences for allies and adversaries alike, and whether the US can maintain its influence without active engagement. The conversation also touches on the role of other global powers in filling the void. For more news and in-depth analysis, go to DW.com and follow DW on social media.
