Kuleba: Putin's War for History – Exclusive Interview with France 24

In this exclusive interview with France 24, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba discusses the historical ambitions driving Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine. Drawing parallels to the Bronze Horseman statue in St Petersburg, commissioned by Catherine the Great in honor of Peter the Great, Kuleba suggests Putin may see himself as a third great leader, seeking expansion at any cost. Kuleba argues that Putin's actions are not merely about territory but about cementing his legacy in Russian history. He contends that this ambition, rather than any immediate security threat, is the real reason behind the war in Ukraine. The interview offers a unique perspective on the conflict, blending historical context with current political analysis. Kuleba's insights shed light on the motivations of the Kremlin and the challenges facing Ukraine and its allies.
