Suitcase Murders: Bodies Found Bound on a Wisconsin Road Spark Manhunt

When human remains were found in suitcases abandoned by the side of a rural Wisconsin road, a community was left shocked and searching for answers. In the 20/20 report "The Suitcase Murders," the first responding officer opened one of the suitcases and discovered a woman's decomposing body—naked, bound with rope and in a fetal position. A detective then opened the second suitcase and found a black plastic bag with a woman's hand protruding out. Her fingernails were painted pink, and her body was bound with rope and appeared to be in a similar condition. The discoveries launched a manhunt and left investigators piecing together the identities of the victims and the circumstances of their deaths. The first part of the 20/20 report examines the initial findings at the scene and the early stages of the investigation that followed the gruesome discovery along the rural roadside.
