Can Zack Polanski Hold the Green Party Together?

In this episode of BBC Newscast, the focus is on Green Party leader Zack Polanski and the internal challenges he faces. Critical voices from within his own party have emerged, alongside calls for a rule change on how the party decides policy. The debate has been intensified by a recent motion declaring Zionism a form of racism, which was voted on and became party policy. The controversy over the motion and its fallout has dominated the political week, diverting attention from Polanski's campaigning efforts in Holborn and St Pancras, where he came second to Labour in a by-election. The episode examines the divisions within the Green Party and the potential implications for its leadership and direction. As Polanski seeks to assert control, the program also touches on Andy Burnham's first electoral victory, providing context on the broader political landscape. With tensions running high, the question remains whether Polanski can unite the party and steer it towards a cohesive strategy.
