Congresswoman Grace Meng Calls for ICE to Vacate New York City After Shooting

Rep. Grace Meng, D-N.Y., has called for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to vacate New York City following the shooting of a Dominican man in Manhattan. Meng is also demanding accountability and a full investigation into the incident, which has sparked outrage and renewed debate over ICE's presence and tactics in local communities. The shooting has heightened tensions between federal immigration authorities and city officials, with many questioning the circumstances that led to the use of force. Meng's call for ICE to leave the city reflects growing concerns about the agency's role and its impact on immigrant communities. The incident is the latest flashpoint in the national conversation about immigration enforcement. As calls for transparency and justice grow, the investigation will be closely watched. Meng and other lawmakers are urging a thorough review to ensure accountability and prevent future incidents. The outcome could influence policies around ICE operations in sanctuary cities and beyond.
