US to Livestream Firing Squad Execution of Fort Hood Shooter

The US will livestream the Army's upcoming firing squad execution on December 3 of Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in a 2009 shooting spree, a Pentagon official said. This would be an unprecedented move, as Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, is set to become the first person to be executed by firing squad by the US military since 1945. The decision to livestream the execution has sparked debate over transparency and the death penalty. Supporters argue it provides public accountability, while critics raise ethical concerns about broadcasting an execution. Hasan's case has been highly controversial, and his execution will be a significant moment in US military justice. The livestream is expected to draw widespread attention and could set a precedent for future executions.
