Republicans Distance Themselves From Trump as Key Races Tighten

Bloomberg's Mario Parker joins "The Debrief" to break down a growing dilemma for Republican candidates in competitive races: whether to embrace or distance themselves from President Trump. Parker speaks with Kailey Leinz and Joe Mathieu on Bloomberg's "Balance of Power" about the calculations GOP contenders are making as they try to appeal to their base without alienating swing voters. The discussion also turns to strategists' concerns about the president's approval rating and how that number could weigh on down-ballot races. Parker outlines where candidates are choosing to put daylight between themselves and the White House, and why those decisions vary from district to district. With control of Congress potentially hinging on a handful of tight contests, Parker explains how the Trump factor is shaping messaging, fundraising, and turnout strategies as Election Day approaches.
