Iranian Drone Plot Forces U.S. to Evacuate Bombers from British Base

British police have arrested a 22-year-old on suspicion of terrorism offenses connected to a possible plot against the RAF Fairford air base in the UK. Over the weekend, the U.S. Air Force evacuated bombers from the base due to fears of an attack. The suspected plot involved Iranian drones, according to officials, highlighting escalating tensions between Iran and the West. The arrest and evacuation underscore the heightened security concerns at military installations in Europe. The U.S. Air Force's decision to move bombers was a precautionary measure, but it reflects the seriousness of the threat. The incident also raises questions about the effectiveness of security measures at allied bases and the ongoing threat posed by Iran-backed groups. Nick Schifrin reports on the details of the plot, the arrest, and the broader implications for U.S.-UK military cooperation and regional security. The segment includes analysis of Iran's alleged role and the potential for further confrontations. Watch PBS News for daily, breaking, and live news, plus special coverage.
