France School Protests Turn 'Apocalyptic': Violence Escalates in Paris Suburb

France 24's Olivia Bizot reports from the Paris suburb of Aubervilliers, where protests over school conditions have left 'apocalyptic' scenes in their wake. The protest movement, which began last week in the Paris region and rapidly spread nationwide, has seen teenage pupils block access to buildings and clash with police. The demonstrations reflect growing frustration over overcrowded classrooms, lack of resources, and insufficient funding for education. What started as peaceful protests has escalated into violence, with fires lit outside schools and confrontations with riot police. The unrest has forced the closure or disruption of education at more than 560 establishments. As the government struggles to contain the crisis, students and teachers alike are demanding urgent action to address the systemic issues plaguing France's education system. The situation remains tense, with no clear resolution in sight.
