Saudi Arabia on the Defensive: Houthi Attacks Threaten MBS's Vision

Saudi Arabia is facing mounting pressure after three deadly Houthi attacks on an airport in the capital, Riyadh. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) is under increasing scrutiny to halt the Iran-backed militia's missile and drone strikes. However, the Kingdom's de facto ruler finds himself with limited options as the Houthis grow more powerful, directly threatening his ambitious plans to transform Saudi Arabia into a global hub for business and tourism. The attacks have exposed vulnerabilities in Saudi Arabia's air defenses and raised questions about the effectiveness of its military campaign in Yemen. This escalation poses a significant challenge to MBS's Vision 2030 agenda, which aims to diversify the economy and attract foreign investment. DW News examines the strategic dilemma facing Saudi Arabia, analyzing the military and political dimensions of the conflict. With the Houthis showing no signs of backing down, the Kingdom must navigate a complex landscape to protect its interests and maintain stability.
