Iceland's EU Referendum: A Nation at a Crossroads

Icelanders are heading to the polls to decide whether to revive negotiations to join the European Union, more than a decade after accession talks were frozen. The referendum comes amid growing security concerns in the Arctic and intense debate over the economic benefits of membership. Voters are weighing their country's future direction, with opinions sharply divided. DW correspondent Teri Schultz reports from Reykjavik, capturing the voices of voters on both sides of the issue. Proponents argue that EU membership would strengthen Iceland's position in international affairs and provide economic stability. Opponents, however, fear loss of sovereignty and control over key industries such as fishing. The outcome of this vote will have far-reaching implications for Iceland's relationship with Europe and its role in the Arctic region.
