Trump to Speak with Putin Over Plague Death as US, UN Demand Transparency

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would speak very soon with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the reported plague death of a laboratory technician, as Washington and the United Nations called for transparency from Moscow. Russian authorities denied that they were imposing anti-plague measures and played down reports of an incident at a plague research institute in Siberia's Irkutsk region last week. The incident has raised international concerns about biosafety and the potential for a public health threat. The US has sent a formal diplomatic complaint to Russia, seeking answers about the death and the circumstances surrounding it. The UN has also urged Moscow to provide full disclosure. As Trump prepares to discuss the matter with Putin, the world watches to see how Russia will respond to the pressure for transparency. The situation highlights the delicate balance between public health security and geopolitical tensions.
